DOT Exams

Effective since May 21, 2014, all medical examiners performing DOT physicals must be trained and certified by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FCMSA).

The FCMSA recognizes that drivers often face long, hard hours, and they are concerned about the safety of drivers and others on the roadways. The updated DOT regulations require that all medical examiners be trained and certified in the new FCMSA standards and that all results are reported to the FCMSA.

Geriatric Care

People 65 years of age and older face challenges to their health that didn’t exist before. Perceptual systems, hearing, and coordination start to decline. Neurological problems often start or begin to worsen. Daily activities become more of a strain, and bad health days become more common. More than half are likely to live with three or more medical problems such as heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, Alzheimer’s disease, or high blood pressure. These factors create medical challenges that our geriatric healthcare professionals can help address. There’s simply more work involved to maintain health and wellness. Our providers are well versed in their role of care in the geriatric equation, which is the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases experienced by older adults.

Dr. Richard Carter is also the chief medical director of our local long-term care facility, and Linda Dunigan, APRN, is involved in the daily care of those patients in that facility.
